Elizabeth sent me and Alex to learn how to seek out starbreeds, horses with a particularly strong connection to Aideen, and have the chance to become guardians.
This practice is called Wild Whispering and we’ll be learning how to do it from Rhiannon here
We pretty quickly ruled out Alex as someone who can Wild Whisper. Her connection to Tincan is just too strong. I, on the other hand, can do literally anything because I am the protagonist.
All I gotta do is focus on a need a horse has and I’ll be able to sense them. To find a starbreed, I need to focus on the need to find the right rider. In game all I gotta do is follow these cool magic circles on the ground until they lead me to a foal
Easy enough. We decide to get some practice in by visiting Jorvik Stables. They always have lots of foals there apparently.
show us the babies
Of course, since we’re friends of Herman, this guy just took us directly to the foals. If it’s this easy then maybe it’s a good thing we’re checking for starbreeds. Dark Core can do some nasty things if they get a hold of them.
We did indeed find one starbreed, but he wasn’t Concorde.
We decided to split up. Alex and I went to Moorland, while Rhiannon went to check Goldenleaf Stables.
Alex and I asked Maya if there’s any foals around. They’re literally so cute with each other, I love their little banter. I know a lot of the fandom ships these two, not sure if it’s ever been properly confirmed by SSO tho. Still, they’re so cute together, romantic or not
Maya said there’s a pregnant mare that they’re trying to set up a spot for and asked for our help. Of course I gotta help.
Alex let Maya ride Tincan(is that allowed???) and we raced up the hill
Then she gave me a chainsaw to get rid of the bushes
Seems like overkill, but I ain’t complaining
Finally mama is here
One quick vet check up later and we’re all set. The vet says she’s very close to giving birth, and she’d be surprised if the baby isn’t here by tomorrow morning. Exciting!
